Toward a New Family-Physician Alliance

The University of California at San Francisco's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine in association with the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery commissioned Open Eye Pictures to create an educational film about family caregiving for loved ones with an aggressive form of brain cancer. The film follows patients and families as they struggle through an unmapped course within a complex and unfamiliar medical system.

The film is meant to raise awareness of the array of challenges faced as loved ones take on the role of care providers. The ultimate goal is to help improve the quality of life for both family and physician caregivers, and hence the quality of patient survivorship by encouraging mutual empathy and respect, and reducing emotional and physical stress. » Learn more

quoteThe family caregiver walks away with the hapless patient. That's it. Nothing is given in terms of what's coming down the pike.
